Adriano Galliani is now hoping to negotiate the
summer arrival of the Brazil international, who is
otherwise set to join as a free agent in January
2016
AC Milan have reached an initial agreement to sign
Shakhtar Donetsk striker Luiz Adriano.
Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani met with Gilmar
Veloz, the striker's agent, as well as high-profile
attorney Kia Joorabchian at a restaurant in Milan
on Thursday in order to thrash out a deal.
Goal understands the Serie A side have secured a
provisional agreement to sign the Brazil
international - whose contract expires at the end of
2015 - in January, but are now working on sealing
a deal to bring the player to San Siro this summer.
Shakhtar, however, are eager to recoup a fee
between €6 million and €7m for the 28-year-old if
they are to accept losing him during the close-
season, while Milan would prefer a much-reduced
compensation figure given that Luiz Adriano would
be available for free in January 2016.
When questioned by reporters outside the
restaurant over potential deals for Luiz Adriano or
Paris Saint-Germain's Zlatan Ibrahimovic - who
has been another rumoured target - Galliani
simply stated "There is nothing to say," before
leaving.
Luiz Adriano, who scored nine goals in the
Champions League last season, was a target for
Roma in January of this year and has also been
linked with Turkish giants Fenerbahce.
Milan have already bolstered their forward ranks
with the signing of Sevilla striker Carlos Bacca,
who will join the club pending a successful
medical.
