The Reds have splashed €17.5 million to bring the
England international right-back to Anfield from
Southampton and he is excited to develop under
Brendan Rodgers
New Liverpool signing Nathaniel Clyne is delighted
to have secured a "dream move" to the club and
believes he can reach his full potential with the
club.
The England international right-back became
Brendan Rodgers's sixth acquisition of the summer
on Wednesday when he completed a €17.5 million
transfer from Southampton.
The 24-year-old was entering the final year of his
contract with the Saints and says that he had his
heart set on the switch as soon as the Reds
showed an interest.
"I'm delighted and it's a dream move for me to
come here and play for such a big club with all of
its history," Clyne told Liverpool's official website.
"I can't wait to get started.
"As soon as Liverpool showed their interest in me,
I was happy and just wanted the deal to go
through.
"The gaffer has shown a lot of interest in me and
this is a place where I can improve as a player, I
think. It's definitely a good opportunity to come
here and try to fulfil my potential.
"I've played at Anfield before and know what the
atmosphere is all about. It's a great atmosphere
and will make me rise to the challenge. I'm really
looking forward to it and hopefully it can push me
on to putting on good performances."
Clyne is now the fourth player to join Liverpool
from Southampton since the end of 2013-14,
linking up with former team-mates Adam Lallana,
Rickie Lambert and Dejan Lovren at Anfield.
