James is not overrated - Danilo

The full-back says his old Porto team-mate has
been one of Real Madrid's best signings of recent
years as he prepares to play alongside him again
James Rodriguez has proven to his doubters that
he is not overrated, according to new Real Madrid
defender Danilo .
The Colombia star joined the Liga giants in a
mega-money move after the 2014 World Cup, in
which he finished as top-scorer, and enjoyed an
impressive debut campaign despite being used in
a more withdrawn midfield role under Carlo
Ancelotti.
And Danilo, who played alongside James at Porto
prior to the 23-year-old's transfer to Monaco,
believes he has dispelled any doubts over whether
he is worthy of his place at Santiago Bernabeu.
"I played alongside him at Porto for two years and
I knew back then that he was a great player,"
Danilo, who has finalised his own move to Madrid,
told Marca .
"Some people thought he was overrated and he
has proven that he is not. He is one of Real
Madrid's best signings of recent years."
Danilo revealed he is relishing the prospect of
playing under head coach Rafael Benitez, who
replaced the sacked Ancelotti earlier this summer,
despite his reputation for demanding hard graft
from his players.
"I like rigour and focus. They make you grow and
develop," said the Brazilian.
"I'm not at all afraid or anxious [about Benitez's
reputation]; on the contrary, it makes me breathe
easy because I know I will be pushed to my
limits."
Finally, the full-back went on to praise new team-
mate Cristiano Ronaldo, labelling the Portuguese
star as the world's finest footballer at present.
Danilo said: "Ronaldo is the best player in the
world right now. He has the Fifa award [the Ballon
d'Or] to show as much.
"If I had to vote, I would vote for him."
