The 20-year-old, who is desperate to leave the
club this summer, cited illness for his absence on
Wednesday and Thursday but reported for duty
ahead of the pre-season tour
Raheem Sterling has reported for Liverpool pre-
season training after calling in sick twice earlier
this week, Goal understands.
The winger was absent as the first-team squad
returned to Melwood on Wednesday, citing illness,
before repeating the claim on Thursday amid
ongoing speculation over his future.
Sterling told Brendan Rodgers of his desire to
leave Liverpool at the end of last season, with
Manchester City since having two bid rejected and
are preparing a third.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard told
Sterling to "be a man about it" after the 20-year-
old refused to take part in the club's upcoming
pre-season tour of Australia and Asia.
Sterling's agent, Aidy Ward, has all trust between
his client and Rodgers has evaporated over the
long-running transfer saga with the England
international widely expected to depart the club
this summer.
Liverpool are set to fly out for their pre-season
tour on Sunday, ahead of a game against the Thai
All-Stars in Bangkok on Tuesday, but it remains to
be seen is Sterling is part of the travelling party.
