The former defender says his side will enjoy their
title celebrations in front of their own fans but does
not want a performance like that of the Blues
against West Brom
Laurent Blanc has warned his Paris Saint-Germain
players that he expects to see them produce a top
performance in their final Ligue 1 clash of the
season - and not fall into the same trap as
Chelsea .
PSG take on Reims at Parc des Princes on
Saturday and will celebrate having successfully
defended their title in front of their home fans.
While he is excited to finish a successful league
season on home turf, Blanc insists he does not
want his players to produce the same level of effort
as the Premier League champions did earlier this
week, when they slumped to a 3-0 defeat at West
Brom.
"We're preparing for the last match in front of our
fans, to celebrate the title. It's always a great joy to
share with them," Blanc told a press conference.
"But what I've told my players is I hope they don't
do as Chelsea did, who did not look like much in
their last game."
Blanc's side head into the last round of games
with an eight-point lead over Lyon, and the former
defender feels Monaco put up a better fight in the
title race last season.
"We haven't stolen these 80 points. Monaco were
tougher to hold off than Lyon, because they
finished second with 83 points last season," he
said.
"I think, with a little more luck, we could have had
a few more points and a little less suspense at the
end of the championship."
Blanc also revealed he will rest Zlatan Ibrahimovic
ahead of the Coupe de France final against
Auxerre.
"Barring a big shock, Zlatan will not be fit. He's
much better, but we're choosing to be cautious
because we have the Coupe de France final," he
added.
