Jara handed three game ban

The defender will play no further part in the
competition after receiving a three-game
suspension from Conmebol
The disciplinary tribunal of Conmebol have
sanctioned Chile's Gonzalo Jara , suspending him
for three matches and subsequently ruling him out
of the rest of the Copa America.
The defender was reported to the governing body
of South American football by the Uruguayan
Football Association (AUF) after a clash with
Edinson Cavani that appeared to provoke the
Celeste striker, whose subsequent reaction was
punished with a second yellow card.
According to the Uruguayan complaint, Jara was
guilty of unsportsmanlike conduct towards the 28-
year-old.

In addition to the suspension, Conmebol have also
handed down a fine of US$7,500.
Chile have two games left in the tournament, so
the punishment will carry over to the start of the
qualification progress for World Cup 2018.
Meanwhile, Conmebol have decided to postpone
making a decision on the Chilean Football
Federation's (ANFP) complaint regarding the
actions of a number of Uruguay players in the
closing stages of the match until after the
tournament.
