Miranda-Brazil were unlucky

Everton Ribeiro and Douglas Costa both failed to
convert their spot-kicks but the stand-in Selecao
skipper refused to criticise his colleagues
Miranda struggled to find the right words after
Brazil's devastating Copa America exit at the
hands of Paraguay , insisting that his team were
unlucky to go out on penalties.
Robinho put the Selecao ahead after just a quarter
of an hour in Concepcion but Derlis Gonzalez
levelled matters from the spot with 18 minutes
remaining.
The Paraguay attacker then repeated the feat in the
shootout, after misses from Brazil duo Everton
Ribeiro and Douglas Costa, to send his side
through to the semi-finals and leave Miranda and
his colleagues disconsolate.
"It's hard to say anything now," the centre-back,
who captained Brazil in the absence of the
suspended Neymar, told SporTV. "It's a moment of
sadness.

"We had a solid perfomance but then we conceded
a penalty from an aerial attack and were
unfortunate in the shootout.
"The ones who were prepared were chosen to take
the shots.
"But that's the thing with penalties: sometimes you
can be ready but still fail to score.
"The guys were prepared but two failed - it
happens.
"The team has been doing well so far. We had big
matches, difficult matches, and put in some good
performances, although other displays were not
quite as good.
"We have to raise our heads and now look ahead
to the World Cup qualifiers. That's the most
important thing for us now."
Paraguay will now face Argentina in the last four,
with Chile taking on Peru in the other semi-final.
