The Algeria international has blossomed into a key
player under Mauricio Pochettino but is yet to
agree fresh terms, while he says clubs are
monitoring his situation
Nabil Bentaleb says that he is growing frustrated
as talks over a new Tottenham contract drag on.
The midfielder has developed into a key player at
White Hart Lane under Mauricio
Pochettino, making
35 appearances in all competitions in 2014-15.
Bentaleb's current contract – which he signed in
2013 – has three more years to run, but the
Algeria international has entered into talks with the
club's hierarchy over a new deal.
While several first-team stars have penned fresh
terms this season – including Harry Kane –
Bentaleb has yet to commit his future and he has
now revealed that his patience is wearing thin,
while he adds that several elite European clubs
have registered an interest in him.
"I've been working really hard and it's normal for
me to want to get rewarded," he told the
Telegraph. "We've been negotiating for nearly nine
months now, since September, and it's getting
really long and, of course, I'm getting a little bit
tired of it.
"But I still work hard. It doesn't change how hard I
work. I will still be the same person. But
sometimes it is annoying when you don't feel
treated as you should be.
"This season was a really good season for me and
I've had some interest from big clubs, from
Champions League clubs. I'm really flattered."
