The Blues embarked on a post-season tour
following their Premier League title win, beating
both Sydney and the Thailand All-Stars, and the
Serb says they must now relax
Nemanja Matic says Chelsea must change their
batteries, having enjoyed a victorious tour of
Thailand and Australia.
Having won the Premier League, the Blues travelled
abroad for two post-season fixtures and have
defeated both the Thailand All-Stars and Sydney
FC, with their next friendly, against the New York
Red Bulls, scheduled for July 23.
And the Serbia international insists the squad must
now relax ahead of their title defence in 2015-16.
"It was my first time in Thailand and Australia and I
liked both Bangkok and Sydney," he told Chelsea's
official website.
"The only problem was the time difference – I
didn't sleep a lot! We are a little bit tired but we
enjoyed the trip.
"Now we need to put new batteries in, relax a little
bit and rest. After one month, which I think is more
than enough time to rest, we will be fresh and have
big motivation to go again next season."
Matic also says that he is always desperate to
taste victory, regardless of the occasion, and
claims that the squad have "had a great time" on
their mini tour.
"We are professional football players and we
always like to win," he added. "It doesn't matter if
it's a friendly game or a league game.
"It was nice to see 80,000 people in the stadium
so we enjoyed it and we won, which is good for
us."
