Firmino has also attracted interest from
Manchester United, having scored 10 goals and
provided 12 assists in all competitions last season,
but has now opted to join Brendan Rodgers' side.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play as a
striker, has spent four years with Hoffenheim and
made his international debut in November 2014
after impressing in the Bundesliga.
Liverpool's acquisition of Firmino may have been
accelerated by Manchester City's interest in
Raheem Sterling, with the Premier League giants
looking to buy the 20-year-old this summer.
City are set to make a final €63m offer for Sterling
- who has told Liverpool he wants to leave - in the
coming days, and Firmino may indeed have been
acquired as a replacement ahead of the England
international's proposed departure.
